Through imaginative education and outreach programmes, OEP aims to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of opera for all, especially young people. For adult audiences we arrange pre-performance talks and other events; for young people we aim to provide a new programme of activity each year usually, but not always, based around our summer tour opera.
Opera East offers two exciting study opportunities based around Heart of Darkness. Both are especially suited to students working towards music at GCSE or GCE A level. They may also be of interest for students studying English literature:
1. To attend the dress rehearsal of the opera on Monday 31st October at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Covent Garden
and/or
2. To participate in a special half day workshop* based on the opera
* The workshops willl be held around the country during 2012 and beyond. They will be presented by a leading animateur and will provide a series of optional modules which will include opportunities for composition and performance and for analytical study of the score and libretto.
Teachers are invited to contact OEP for more information and to register their interest in the project: irenewears@operaeastproductions.org
